Hair Clips for Adoption Fund

I have been praying and thinking about what I could do while at home to make some extra money for our adoption fund.  I saw something similar to these recently and decided that I should give it a try!  I have shown them to several people and they loved them!  I have even worn these hair clips and pins myself!  They are made from felt.  Pick the design you like and I can attach it to a hair clip, barrettes, stretchy head bands for babies, U shaped headbands for bigger kids and adults.
Each one is $5.00.  Buy 3 and get 1 FREE!  I am willing to customize for you too!  See a pattern you love but you want a different color combo... I can do it!  Just let me know!  Also, note that there are more then one set of hair clips on the blog!

Another picture of our precious baby!

Isn't she beautiful?!?!  Psalm 39:13-16 comes to mind over and over again!  13For you created my inmost being;
you knit me together in my mother’s womb.
14I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made;
your works are wonderful,
I know that full well.
15My frame was not hidden from you
when I was made in the secret place.
When I was woven together in the depths of the earth,
16your eyes saw my unformed body.
All the days ordained for me
were written in your book
before one of them came to be.

Introducing Song Wen Xia, our precious baby girl!

This is one of the photo's that was sent to us in her referral papers!  This photo was taken in late December.  Notice the layers of clothes.  There is a Chinese law that no government building south of the Yangtze Riveris heated.  This includes schools and orphanages.  I have been told that the children are used to this, so it is not an issue for them, as it would be for us.  I sure hope that she is not bundled like this when go to get her in the heat of the summer!  The layers will be pulled off quickly, that is for sure!

Names?  Well, we think we have it figured out, then there are doubts... so I am going to hold of on revealing her American name.  I will tell you that part of her name will remain Wen Xia.

More info about where our sweet baby is!

I mentioned in my last post that I had contacted Red Thread Charities to see if they had updates on our precious baby.  They were there in October and took five pictures of her.  They sent them to me!!!  LOVE IT!  A few people went in April and we are waiting to learn if they took photos.  I would so love it, if they did.

Red Thread is a wonderful organization that has truely helped the children at our daughter's orphanage.  They bring doctors, nurses, PT's, OT's and more to evaluate the children and give recommendations for how to work with the children.  They also train the caregivers how to work with each child.  Amazing and such a gift.

I hear that she is in one of the finest orphanages and that we are very fortunate that she is there!  God is so good.  Another great bit of news that they confirmed is that the orphanage workers are very good with keeping current info on each child, so we should beable to get updates on our little bundle very easily.  One other thing that is amazing is that they take photo's of the children each month and create a book for the adoptive family.  What a treasure that will be!!!  We will be able to see how she has grown and changed since she was 5 days old.  I continue to get more information about her care, her surroundings, etc and as I do, I thank God for all that we know and for those that are taking good care of her.

We wait for Pre-approval and once we receive that, I believe we should be ok to share her photo's.  Please continue to pray for us as we still need additional funding to bring her home.  Pray for her to be healthy as she waits for us to come get her.

Thank you for your love and support!

Jennifer

We are learning more about our precious baby girl in China!

People have been asking for me to share more of our adoption journey... so I have more to share now!  The night we received our referral I was WIDE AWAKE AT 1 AM, and so I put the time to good use.  I found a yahoo group that is for those that adopt from our daughter's orphanage.  I requested to be a part of the group and shortly there after I received an email from a lady that had been there just 2 months ago to pick up their daughter.  She shared that they had been able to visit the orphanage and tour it.  I was excited to hear that, because I want to tour too, if possible.  When they arrived at the orphanage the director gave them a book of photos.  They had pictures of their daughter from the day that she arrived at the orphanage and each month after that!!!!  WOW!!!!  I pray that we too will get such a treasure!!!

In her email to me she asked if our daughter has a bilateral cleft lip and said that if she does, she knows who our daughter is.  When her husband bent down to talk to our little one, she kicked and waved and smiled and was very happy!  She was interactive and engaged!!!  PRAISE THE LORD!!!!  I pray that for the months that she must wait for us to come get her, that she will remain happy and engaged with people!!!

Her Chinese name?  We will announce more about her once we have word of preapproval!  Her American name?  We will announce once we decide.  We do plan to use part of her Chinese name.  Pictures?  Not yet... hang in there!  They will be posted in time!!

We have also found that there is an organization that is called Red Thread Charities that goes to work with the children in her orphanage.  I have emailed them to see if they have newer photo's of her and can tell me if her lip has been rapaired yet.  I hope to hear back from them SOON!!!!

Our minds are still spinning, our smiles are still huge and our thanks to our Lord God still continues!!!  I'm tired... we just completed our 2nd adoption garage sale!  It was great, but oh so much work!  Please remember that I am still making and selling hairclips!!!  If you have not purchased any yet, now is the time!  EVERY penny of profit goes to bring our precious little daughter home!!!

We have a baby girl waiting for us!!!

Last week we learned that the new list of children would come out Monday night.  This list was the first list that we were able to be matched from.  I had lots of dreams on Saturday and Sunday nights that we had not been matched, and then had a few hours of being WIDE awake.  Monday I was busy getting ready for a ladies dinner night at our house.  I had a ton of fun visiting with the ladies that came over.  They all left at about 9:30 and then I was left to wait, hope and pray that we would get a call.  I knew that if we were matched, we would likely get a call between 10 and 11 PM.  I sat with both phones by my side and was killing time on facebook when my cell phone rang.  It was approximately 10:47 and it was Emily, from our agency.  She asked if I was awake.... and of course I was.  Who could sleep at a time like that?  She said we had been matched.

To back up a bit, a few weeks ago, we filled out a form that said which special needs we were willing to accept along with what age of a child.  I put up to 15 month which meant that if we were matched with a 15 month old, she and Sam would only be 5 months apart.  YIKES!  So what did I do?  I started PRAYING!  Dear Lord, please allow us to be matched with an 8 month old!!!!  I prayed for an 8 month old, because I knew that it was unlikely to be matched with a baby younger then that!

Ok... so Emily proceeded to say that she is 8 months old!  YEAH GOD!!!  I love that He cares about our requests!  He answered my prayer!  She has a cleft lip and cleft palate.  I was exploding with excitement!!!!  She sent me to file.  I had told myself that I would not look at her picture until I read all about her first... well... that didn't last.  When I opened the email there were several attachments and the tiny little picture of her drew me in.  I opened it first!!!  Her eyes are beautiful!

I read part of her file and then realized that I better call my parents and give them the news before it got any later.  I followed that by calling a friend who is a Nurse Practitioner and forwarded her the file!  She reviewed it with me and was very happy with all it said!  Nothing of concern from her!  PRAISE THE LORD!  You see, I had already begun falling in love with that precious baby girl and it would have crushed me to hear anything that would caution us from proceeding with accepting the referral!

A few more calls were made to family and then Jeff went to bed.  I was too awake to go to bed and just lay there.  I found a yahoo group that is for those that have or are adopting from our daughers orphanage.  I have communicated with some from that group, but that is for a later post.  At 1:30 I finally thought I could go to bed and actually be able to sleep!  WE HAVE A BABY waiting for us in China!!!!

Tuesday Morning I sent her file to be printed.  I took the printing to the pediatrician's office and left it for our doctor to review.  Late afternoon on Tuesday, he called me.  He had reviewed the file as had some of his partners and they all felt like everything looked great and they felt we could proceed with confidence!

I called Emily (from our agency) and said we are accepting the referral.  I sent her some documents for our Letter of Intent!  All this was with perfect timing!  Our 2nd adoption garage sale started Wednesday morning, and I am so happy to share with people as they come to our sale that we have a daughter waiting for us to come pick her up.

Now we wait for approval to adopt her and all the many steps that we have to go through to go to China to get her!  For know we pray for good health and that she does well as they do the surgery to repair her lip.  God is so good!

You know, I have thought often in the last weeks about the fact that God knew her as he knit her together in her mother's womb.  God knew that her parents would be unable to keep her, for whatever reason.  God also knew while he knitted her together that she would become a part of our family!  I pray that as we become her mommy and daddy and brothers, they we will love her beyond all measure and she will know that God has brought us together as a family.

There is more to our story, but that is all for tonight!  Stay tuned for me!
