On August 21st, Myah turned 1 year old. We sent her a care package and ordered a cake to be delivered to her orphanage. I have been waiting and waiting for the pictures of her party to be sent... and here they are!!!
This is the 1st and last birthday that she will spend without her forever family! Glory to God!
I started this blog as a way to share our journey to the adoption of our daughter Myah. Today, I use it to share about our day to day life. I pray that through my posts you will see our desire to serve the Lord in all that we do!

A day of significance!
Today is a significant day for us, in more ways then one! It was on this date in 2010 that we decided which Adoption Agency we were going to use! I had talked to the China Coordinator the day before and she was so helpful and took the time I needed to answer our questions! I am so thankful that God led us to An Open Door Adoption Agency!
It was also on this date in 2010 that a precious little one was found on the lawn of the orphanage that has been her home for the last year! She had with her a silver badge with her date of birth on it. As I sit her and type this I once again think of her biological parents. What made them decide that they could not care for her? Where they sad? Did they see no hope? When they placed her on the lawn, did they stand at a distance and watch until someone found that she was there? Do her parents walk past the orphanage and think of her? While I don't know these answers, I am led to believe that they loved her so much to leave her in a place that she would easily be found and well cared for. Maybe they did not have the financial means to care for a baby that had her medical needs? I am so thankful that she was placed on the lawn of an orphanage that is believed to be one of the finest in China. I am confident in that God knew before she was born that she would become our daughter!
So today, we celebrate! We celebrate that our precious Myah was found and has been cared for in the best way that she can, while in a orphanage setting! She has received medical care, she has clothes and food, and caregivers to hold her and love her. For all of these things, this momma's heart is so so thankful!

We are officially waiting for Travel Approval!
Our article 5 documents were picked up from the US Consulate yesterday and overnighted to the CCAA to issue travel approval. We are praying that God will make a way for FAST travel approval and that we can get to China by Mid-Sept! Will you please pray too!
I am still waiting and hoping to receive pictures from Myah's 1st birthday party. I will post them as soon as they arrive!
We are nearing the end of this journey, but once the adoption is final, we begin the far more important journey of being Myah's forever family!

Our sweet Myah is 1 year old!
August 21st, 2010 a baby girl was born in China. This baby girl is our baby Myah. Last night I looked back on my notes from this past year and found that this day has another great significance! It was the day that we decided for sure that we were going to adopt from China! That just gives me chills folks!!! Some might say that that just happened, but I believe that our Lord Jesus is interested in the little details of our lives! So last August 21st, as we agreed to follow the call that God had for us to go across the world to adopt a baby girl, our baby girl was born!
I often think about where Myah was born. Was she born in a hospital? Did her parents know that she was a girl before she was born? Was her mom a teen or was she an adult? Did she have other children? Did she know that Myah had a cleft lip and palate before she entered the world? What did she think and feel seeing her daughter for the first time? While I would love to know the answers to these questions, I likely never will. What I do know is that when God formed Myah in her mother's womb, and she was fearfully and wonderfully made. God knew that just a few short days after Myah was born she would be found and would later be placed for adoption. God knew that she was going to be part of our family!
While I don't have photo's of her from the day she was born, when we are in China, I likely will receive photos from the point that she entered the orphanage. We are blessed to already have photo's of her that were taken when she was 2 months old. They were taken by Red Thread Charities, the charity that works with Myah's orphanage. They train the nanny's to provide therapeutically for each of the children's needs! They take a team of doctor's nurses and therapists each October. While there, they take pictures of the children. What a blessing to receive these photo's of Myah when she was so little!
The little photo that her nanny is holding is likely the picture that was used in her finding ad. The finding ad is placed in the newspaper and includes information about the child, where they were found and any details that they might have. The hope of the finding ad is that someone would come and claim the child. After the finding ad has been in the newspaper and no one has come forward to claim the child, they become eligible for adoption.
As I said earlier, I likely will never know any information about Myah's mom and her thoughts and feelings, I know for sure that I can pray for her, and I do. I pray that God will surround her with His love and reveal Himself to her! Will you take 30 seconds right now and pray for her too?
HAPPY BIRTHDAY BABY MYAH! WE LOVE YOU AND ARE SO EXCITED TO HAVE YOU BE A PART OF OUR FAMILY!!!
