Where in China will we be?
Many have asked where will we be while in China. Well, we will be in 4 cities.
We will be flying in and out of Hong Kong, which is at the bottom right of China.
We will then fly to Beijing, which is towards the top of China, also on the right side.
We will spend about 3 days in Beijing to see the many well known Chinese sights.
Next we will then fly to Hangzhou, which in still on the right side of the map, about 1/2
way between Hong Kong and Beijing. It is very near the East China Sea. This is
where Myah lives. We will then fly to Guangzhou, which is back at the bottom right
side of the map, very near Hong Kong. Guangzhou is where one of the United States
Consulates is located. All adopting families from the United States must go to this
Consulate to complete the US processing of the child's visa. Finally, we will be back
in Hong Kong to fly back to the United States.
More details will come in the days ahead! Please feel free to share our blog with those you know! We also ask that you continue to pray for Myah and for her heart to be ready for us! She will be going through so many changes and we are asking God to give her a peace that passes anything we can understand!

We know when we are leaving for China!
As you might have read last week, we received travel approval last Thursday, Sept 8th. We quickly learned that the consulate appointments were all gone for the last week of September. With this news, the reality that we could not travel until October became very real! UGGGG! We certainly didn't want to wait until October, but there was just no other choice.
We had to wait through a long weekend (another holiday in China means the US Consulate is closed) to learn when are consulate appointment was scheduled for. We heard Tuesday late afternoon that our agency requested October 17th, but found out last night that we were unable to get that date, so we have our Consulate appointment on the 19th.
I am thankful that I contacted our travel agent (that works with many many adoptive families) on Tuesday. We had worked through different flight options so when we got the official Consulate appointment date we just had to switch the date of our return flight. He did that last night and this morning we made one final change to the flight from Chicago to KC and then we paid for the flights!
I am very thankful that we put flights on hold when we did, as flights were booked up quickly. We are leaving a day earlier then we had hoped, but in doing so we are saving over $1000.
We are flying from here to LAX and then from LAX to Beijing through Hong Kong. We will be in Beijing for 3 days. We are blessed to have a contact through some friends at church. She and a friend will serve as our guides while we are there. We will be going to The Great Wall of China along with other famous Chinese historical places.
On Saturday we will head to Hangzhou. We will have 1 1/2 days in Hangzhou before we get Myah on Monday, Oct 10th. The adoption will become final on the 11th. We will remain in Hangzhou for the passpost processing until Friday when we will fly to Guangzhou. It is in Guangzhou that Myah will have her physical, and Consulate appointment. The day after her consulate appointment we will get her visa and be free to leave. We will take a van to Hong Kong and fly home on the 21st.
We are excited that we will be greeted when we get home by Jeff's parents. They are coming to KC for a conference and are going to stay, see the kids and wait for us to get home, so we can introduce Myah to them. While we had hoped that we would be back to the US sooner to have several days with them, we are thankful for the few days we will get!
So there you have it... the news of our trip! Stay tuned for more info and it become available!

We have Travel Approval, but are waiting to find out when we will travel!
On Thursday morning we got the call from our agency that our Travel Approval had arrived. We were very excited to receive this news. Earlier in the week we had put fights on hold, so we could leave next week to get our baby girl. Unfortunately, all of the US Consulate Appointments for the last of September were booked. That was a huge disappointment. I was in a nasty mood on Thursday about the delay in travel... you know that delay was not part of MY plan! After my day of pity party I realized that I had to get over it. There was nothing that could be done about it... so what is the point of being down in the dumps? Ok... so I am still a bit sad... but you know... God has an appointed time that is perfect for us to get our sweet Myah. I sure hope it is sooner rather then later. We should find out on Tuesday! I will post more, when we know!
I want to leave you with this quote. It was shared with me by another adoptive mom!
The will of God is never exactly what you expect it to be. It may seem to
be much worse, but in the end it's going to be a lot better and a lot bigger. ~Elisabeth Elliot

It's the middle of the night and I am awake again!!!!
The last days (ok weeks too) of waiting to head to China remind so much of the last days (and weeks) of pregnancy. I CAN'T SLEEP! I did manage to go to bed at a normal hour last night, but at 2:30 my eyes popped open and I have been WIDE AWAKE ever since!
So what do I do in the middle of the night when I CAN'T SLEEP? I first lay in bed hoping and praying that I will go back to sleep? When that doesn't work (it rarely does), I get up and head to the living room. I used to be able to watch tv, but now... that wakes Zachary up. The boy needs his sleep... so I have resorted to the computer!!!
I start by checking my email (all 3 boxes) and then move to Facebook. Not much to be found in any of those. Next I move to a China Adoption Board to find that not much has happened since I last checked it. Finally, I go down my list of adoption blogs and see if there are updates. Tonight, I found a few new posts. One blog sounded like many of my blog posts. Hurry up and wait! What takes 2 weeks for some, takes 4 weeks for us! This particular blogger was sharing her heart, and while reading I was understanding everything she was saying, as we have walked through it. She wanted encouragement. I understood, as I have needed encouragement oh so many times through this last year too! So, what could I say? I knew immediately, as I have been reminded of it oh so many times since I first posted about this passage of scripture in February. God has allowed me the opportunity to share it with so many (both adoptive parents and others that are just struggling with everyday life). As I wrote this blogger I was oh so thankful that I could go back to that passage of scripture myself and have it speak to me again! Isn't God's word so so amazing?!?!?
So, here we are... at 4:14 AM while I am WIDE AWAKE, and I share with you again this great passage from the Bible!
2 Samuel 22: 31-37 "As for God, his way is perfect; the word of the Lord is flawless. He is a shield for all who take refuge in him. For who is God besides the Lord? And who is the Rock except our God? It is God who arms me with strength and makes my way perfect. He makes my feet like the feet of a deer; he enables me to stand on the heights. He trains my hands for battle; my arms can bend a blow of bronze. You give me your shield of victory; you stoop down to make me great. You broaden the path beneath me, so that my ankles do not turn."
From this passage: "He makes my feet like the feet of a deer." Did you know that a female deer can place her hind feet in the very same spot that the front feet were just in. EXACT SAME SPOT!!! Just like the deer, we can place our steps in the exact place that God wants us to be! God is walking and guiding me (and I hope you) through this journey of life every step of the way! One step at a time!
To go a step further then I have in the past with this scripture, the sweet reminder that God's ways are perfect. That means that the Jennifer Stone plan of how our adoption should play out, or any part of life really is not nearly (ok, not at all) as perfect as God's ways! That gives me a real kick in the pants!!!
As we approach our Travel Approval (hopefully later today), I am reminded that God has lead us down this path of adoption and He WILL get us through it! I fail at it a lot, but I am trying to make my steps in the exact same path of my Lord Jesus!!!
