It is hard to believe that 5 months ago today we arrived home from China. Myah became a US citizen... and began the work of fitting in with our family! She quickly became fond of her big brothers. She has welcomed people into her world at different paces. Some it was fast and others, well... she is still letting them in slowly.
Once we got past Myah's surgery and recovery, we started hanging out in the nursery. She stood real close to us at first, but quickly started playing with the other kids and participating with the class. Over all, she is doing very well. Only on occasion are we paged to come to her class. She seems to be most comfortable when she and Sam are in the same class, but that is usually only on Sunday nights.
We are about 1 1/2 months past her surgery. While she does have a small hole in her palate, the doctor said today that it is closing on its own. We praise the Lord for that and pray that it continues to close all the way.
Several weeks ago, with the help of a Chinese friend I sent Myah's orphanage an email. I received a response yesterday and then received the translated version today. The first thing I requested was information about her name. Wen Xia " Wen" means quiet; "xia" means the colorful clouds in the sky, so it means beautiful. We hope this child can grow into a person as beautiful as the colorful clouds in the sky by the light of sun. This gave me confirmation as to what we thought her name meant.
The next thing I asked is if they had information as to who found Myah. We knew that she was found on the lawn of the orphanage, but were hoping for more information. Unfortunately, there is no name attached to her file. They said: The child was indeed found on the lawn, however the local police got an anonymous call. So when the police arrived there wasn't anybody except the baby. So there wasn't any record on the person who found her.
For this part, I am kind of sad. Had there been a name as to who found her, there would have been a greater CHANCE to find out more family information for her. Now, those chances seem even more slim. I have to remind myself that in spite of my wants, God has a bigger plan and far greater picture than I do! I will now rest in knowing that and being ever so thankful that Myah has been adopted into our family!
Loved reading your post. I am so glad she is adjusting well and healing well after her palate surgery. I will continue to pray for you all! :)
