Day 3 with A Xia!

A Xia is the nick-name that Myah was called at the orphanage.  This is her nick name and I have been told that the A means that she is spoiled and very loved.  For now, that is the name we use as much as we can.  Today our daughter came alive!!!  She has smiled, giggled, given high fives and oh so much more!  It is like the light switch came on and her sweet personality is shining!!!

We started this morning with breakfast.  A Xia is a great eater.  She ate everything that I fed her and never fussed!  We learned after giving her bread that might not be a great idea... as she drooled major mucus after that.  I believe that it must have gotten stuck in her cleft and the drool was helping her get it out of the cleft.

After breakfast and skyping with our boys at home we went out with the rest of the families and our guide.  We 1st took a boat ride across West Lake.  It was very pretty and peaceful.  We also were able to really visit with the other families in our group!  Following the boat ride we drove out into the countryside to the Tea Plantation.  We were given a sample as well as a demo and talk about Green Tea.  I think it tastes like spinach water.  Jeff LOVED IT!  It was amazing to see the rows of tea and that they were all cared for by hand, and no modern equipment.

We then came back to the hotel and rested a bit before we went out for lunch!  I had spare ribs on rice.  It was good, but many other things we have had are much better.  After lunch we went to DQ for a frozen treat and then WALKED and WALKED and WALKED!  We took pictures and soaked in the culture that as Myah grows she will surely not remember.  I want to some day be able to give her clear pictures of her city!

After our LONG walk we went to the room for a rest.  Alexander wanted to play with the other boys so we went upstairs so they could run and play.  It was nice visiting with the Campbell family.  After a bit we headed out to Pizza Inn and had pizza and lasagna.  Myah loves lasagna.

After our great dinner we walked back to the hotel... and gave Myah her first bath!  She did not like it at all when I started to wash her hair.  We moved fast and out she came... got diapered, lotioned and jammied and then snuggled with daddy until she was fast asleep!

Oh what a great day!  Please continue to pray for us and for Myah as she learns that we are safe and will provide for her!!!  I also ask that you pray for another little girl in our group.  Her name is Nina and God knows the need.  Will you life her up to the Lord right now?

Tomorrow we are going to finish the adoption paper work in Hangzhou and then go to the orphanage.  We will follow that up with a visit to the silk museum.

Good night all, from China!!!

  1. Oh Jennifer! She is so beautiful. I can remember the day we met Maren for the first time. It gives me chills just thinking about it. We don't have any bio children so I can't compare to childbirth. I'd guess this is completely different and so, so special. Your family is just beautiful and I can't wait to see pictures of all of you together. Until then just soak up the time you have with her.
Many strangers and friends often tell us how lucky Maren is and I quickly correct them and let them know that her daddy and are the ones who are blessed and lucky. I'd guess you will agree.
Congratulations and God's blessings to all of you. Isn't it just grand when His plan comes to fruition. Beauty all around.
    So, so happy for you.
